about

Solstormen is a suite of mallet trios written in Piteå, Northern Sweden during the freezing weather of February 2012. The suite draws elements from jazz, minimalism and contemporary classical music and recalls the aurora borealis and the eerie landscape of Northern Sweden as well as the excitement of ensemble performance and improvisation!

The three works formed the core of Ensemble Evolution's touring program from February to June 2012 and was performed throughout Sweden, Finland, Lithuania and Australia.

"Live at Badhusparken" is a recording of our final performance of Solstormen in Sweden in June 2012, just before the end of our residency at Piteå Musikhögskolan. This suite was presented at an outdoor evening concert in the eerie summer twilight while onlookers and boats passed by the park.
